This simple chess game uses Silverlight and runs in a web page.
If you would like to download the game and install it rather than playing it within my website, you can download the Windows version.
Download Simple Chess for Windows
The Windows version has a larger openings book and can save and load games.

Hi Mr. Smale.
Thank's for making your games available for everyone to use and congratulations for your nice work. I have a question. Have you got or considering to make a draughts/ checkers game? With the oficial british/american rules, like: "must jump", draw after 3 repeated moves, double corner on the right side, etc... I apreciate any reply.
Wiches of good health for you and your family.
Hi Rafael,
I don't see why not... I'll see what I can do. Are the rules on this site suitable?

Ed
Hi!
Thx for the quick reply. The answer is YES! It is an official checkers federation website, so... there is no better place. :) Despite not being british or american (i'm portuguese), i appreciate a lot this version of checkers. Probably the easiest to learn and most played in the world. Keep up the good work.
Bye.
Hello again.
One final request: Some programmers always force the human player to be the 1st to move. Personaly i consider this kind of... boring. If your future project could give the choice of 1st move (opening) be for the AI player OR human player it will be perfect. I take the liberty to point the following website as reference: http://www.concentric.net/~bereza/checkers/
The negative point is that we only can play online. There's no download link. :( I'm a poor checkers players, but If you need help for testing it, count me in.
Thank's for the patience Mr. Ed.
Rafael.
Hi Rafael,
That's no problem, I'll make the game so that you can choose which side you want to play against the computer.
I've created a page on which I'll post updates, and where you can leave comments if you wish. The page is here. I've made a very small start.
Cheers,
Ed
