U Got 2 Know
UGot2Know was a well-known tune by Capella that came out in the 90's. I loved everything about it. After enjoying listening to it for a couple of years or so, I thought I'd have a stab at recreating it in the Acorn Archimedes.
The Archimedes only had 8 channels of 8-bit sound to work with, so you had to be quite crafty to keep all the different lines of music going. In the end, you had to put odd notes inbetween the drum sounds on the drum tracks, to try and maintain the lines as you ran out of channels. Also, in order to get drum loops and the vocals in sync with everything else, it was necessary to chop them up into little bits, and put a bit on each semiquaver or quaver. Kind of like what the Dr-Rex does in Reason.
This isn't an exact copy of the original track, so I guess it qualifies as a 'remix'. I thought it was the bee's knees at the time, and I still quite like it now, despite the low 8-bit quality.
