Children
Sunday School
There is Sunday School at Totternhoe in term time for the young people who leave the service to engage in activities on the same themes as the adults but designed specifically for their own age group. Children rejoin their families and the congregation for a blessing at the altar during Holy Communion. Totternhoe has Family services once a month.
Crèche corner:
Young families are very welcome in church.
Sometime parents need to allow their children a few moments distraction so they can take time to worship without small children tugging at their sleeve. Children, especially those too young for Sunday School, (under five years) are welcome in the crèche corner. There is a crèche corner in each of our churches with carpet, soft toys, picture books and colouring. Parents remain responsible for their own children even when there is a designated helper.
Open the Book
Our in schools project for telling Bible stories to lower school children. Gallant and very talented grown ups (who are still children at heart!) go into school to act out stories from the Bible in assemblies. We tell stories from both the Jewish and Christian tradition.
N. B. The benefice has a designated children's officer. All our teachers and club helpers hold CRB certificates and subscribe to our child protection policy.
